Yuyang Chen is an artist working with muti-medium. Her practice spans deeply poetic installations and objects as well as enigmatic paintings, moving image and photographs exploring themes of self-identity and discovery. Drawing upon her own interests in literature, philosophy and psychology, Chen’s work encompasses candid and insightful meditations of the self, with her aim being to challenge the relationship between the viewer and the artist by inviting viewers to physically engage with her art in psychological, affective and discursive ways.


Yuyang Chen received her BA in Fine Art from the Chelsea College of Arts with first class honours in 2022. She is now studing MFA Fine Art in Goldsmiths, University of London. Yuyang’s work has shortlisted in 2024 The Ingram Prize and featured in several exhibitions including the RWA 171 Annual Open Exhibition and the 2024 Bow Open x Lindsey Mendick’s A Personal Treasure. In 2023, she was a Special Prize Winner in the 4th Global Talent Art Prize.
